Job Summary

Prep with purpose! As a intern in the Purdue Athletic Dining culinary department, you will support culinary operations by preparing ingredients, assisting in cooking, and ensuring kitchen efficiency. You’ll contribute to delivering exceptional guest experiences by maintaining cleanliness, quality, and speed throughout meal service.

Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of food preparation and sanitation

  • Senior status pursuing BS Culinary Nutrition or Dietetics & Applied Nutrition degree
  • Must be flexible with schedule and able to work different shifts
  • Ability to follow recipes and direction independently for service 

  • Ability to lift 30+ lbs and stand for extended periods

  • Experience in foodservice or kitchen environment preferred

  • Help plan and conduct food demos with teams in conjunction with the Team Dietitian
  • Train and work with Performance Dietitian to ensure the daily dietary needs of the athletes are met
  • Develop recipes and menu items independently for service
  • Develop performance recipes for fueling stations as needed
  • Develop educational opportunities with Team Dietitian during preseason camp and team meals
  • Demonstrate awareness, understanding and skills necessary to work in a diverse athletics environment
  • Assist in Training Table menu development, pre and post training fueling and contribute to athlete weight management and recovery fuel recipe development
  • Food Handler certification 

  • Prepare ingredients and assist chefs with cooking tasks

  • Follow food safety and hygiene standards

  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and organization

  • Set up and break down kitchen stations

  • Support with inventory stocking and rotation

  • Communicate effectively with the culinary team
